Throughout the year, I offer made-to-measure courses adapted to your specific needs to help you progress according to your own rhythm and desires. Staying with a family allows you to benefit from a complete immersion in French language and culture. Your language learning is supplemented by daily practice using the language in an environment which will quickly become familiar. My lessons are fun, friendly and relaxed but with quality content, which I believe is the best combination of learning. I am an experienced French teacher with an M.A. in Linguistics from Université de Lyon, France and a CAPES course (teaching qualification). I speak English, Spanish and ItaIian. I have 20 years experience in translating from English into French. I was a translator for multinational companies, publishers of FSL books (French as a second language), the government of Ontario and the Federal government of Canada. I was a member of ATIO (Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario). I was a French teacher in a high school in London, England, and in a language school in Toronto, Canada. I have been a private French tutor for twelve years in the Annecy region and I welcome students from all nationalities in my home in Menthon-Saint-Bernard. Menthon is a lovely lakeside village located on the sunniest bank of the lake, 5 miles from the historic centre of Annecy, often called the French Venice. Annecy is a beautiful medieval town intersected by small canals and flower-decked quays. Menthon offers numerous mountain activities, from walking itineraries to paragliding, canyoning and via ferrata. For those who prefer the valley, there is swimming, sailing, cycling and golfing. Menthon is also a great base for skiing as it is a 35-minute drive away from the ski resorts. The closest international airport is in Geneva just a half hour’s drive. My house is in a quiet and peaceful location only a five-minute walk from the lake and close to the shops. It is a charming house that is tastefully furnished. I offer my students a private room and bathroom on the groundfloor, with a large door opening onto a private yard, wifi access, radio, chest of drawers and desk.
